- The initial bidding war for the rights to produce the American adaptation of Skins was fought between MTV and The CW. As we all know, MTV won. Be glad.
- The show will be filmed entirely in Toronto. Green screens will be used in certain situations (to include landmarks, etc). This is much like how Heroes and Fringe are filmed.
- As with the original British series, MTV’s Skins will use a cast of unknown American and Canadian teenagers, all aged around 16 and playing characters true to their real ages.
- The script writing team will once again consist of Bryan Elsley and a group of young writers.
- Real Baltimore teenagers were brought in and talked to in focus groups. This was done to find out how they normally talk, where they hang out, what they do in their spare time, etc.
- The pilot episode will be filmed in mid-February of this year. MTV is extremely likely to pick up a full season, which will be aired later this year (in the fall, perhaps?)
And that’s all I know right now! I’m REALLY feeling optimistic about this, guys. More info as I get it, of course. Best case scenario: photos of the main cast. We’ll see.
Why do I have a bad feeling about this?
Everyday's summer, and I never grow old.
